The Vaudois Riviera

The exceptional climate in this area of Lake Geneva is the mildest north of the Alps. It allows lush and diverse vegetation to develop: vines are grown up to an altitude of 600 meters, walnut trees up to 700 meters and fruit trees up to 1,000 meters. On the shores of the lake, you will find fig, almond, bay and mulberry trees and even cypresses, magnolias and palm trees.

The Vaud Riviera has been a destination for visitors from all over Europe since the late 19th century for the scenery and particularly mild microclimate in Vevey or Montreux. Vevey is home to the global headquarters of Nestlé, while Montreux is famous for its annual jazz festival – one of the most well known in the world – and Chillon castle on the shores of the lake at the foot of the Alps.

The region is also active in cutting-edge industries, with the Merck-Serono Biotech Center and APCO Technologies performing research in nuclear and aerospace fields, and Strycker Europe, a leading provider of orthopedic implants.

The Riviera also has a number of world-famous rehabilitation centers and private clinics, as well as investment firms and financial advisors, in addition to prestigious private schools known for the quality and diversity of their education.

It should be noted that Montreux and La Tour-de-Peilz as well as several other towns of the Riviera are considered tourist towns under the Federal Law on the Acquisition of Real Estate by Persons Abroad (LFAIE). Therefore, foreigners who do not reside in Switzerland can purchase a holiday home under certain conditions.

BARNES will be happy to meet you in its offices in Vevey or Montreux to present you with the most beautiful properties in the region: gorgeous lofts in Montreux, mansions in Blonay, Saint-Légier or Clarens, and luxurious homes in La Tour de Peilz or Corseaux.
